Today is International Nurses Day. When I was in the hospital, I can’t express enough how kind, caring and patient the nurses were. And I was a bad patient. 😉


Gabrielle “Gabby” Giffords was a House member from Arizona’s 8th Congressional District from 2012-2017. On January 8th, 2011 she suffered severe brain injury which was caused by a gunshot wound to the head during an assassination attempt. She was left with severe aphasia which affects her speech, but not comprehension or intellect. Here’s more on how Gabby battles aphasia with music.

COVID-19 has made meeting more difficult. The platform, Microsoft Teams, is not optimal for people with aphasia, and not everyone has the equipment or the ability to use it. We all miss the intimacy of physically being together. But we are still here and hope to have some more blog posts up. We’ve been talking about current events, ways to get through communication breakdowns, and questions of the day. A recent one was which practices or technologies do you think will persist after COVID is “over”?
